Dolphins baseball took a tough 6-5 loss to FDU-Florham on Thursday evening at the CSI Baseball Complex.

FDU started the action at the top of the 3rd inning as a Matt Oliveto double to left scored Steve Seminerio who reached on a single. The Dolphins answered right away with a run at the bottom half of the inning Frances Torres reached on a walk and crossing home plate on a FDU error to tie the score at one.

With a silent fourth and fifth inning, the Devils took opportunity in the sixth. Jeff Pontebbi walked two batters advancing both runners on a balk. An error by CSI helped FDU cross the plate for a pull ahead run. Again, CSI answered at the bottom half. After Bryan Moreno reached on a single followed by a stolen base and wild pitch it was Pat Gale’s double that brought him home to tie the score at two

After getting one out to start the seventh, Anthony Collucci was replaced by Michael Van Pelt on the mound. Van Pelt allowed one run from FDU before getting the Dolphins out of the inning.

Unlike the previous innings CSI didn’t answer back in the bottom of the inning, bringing the game to the top 7th where FDU did damage. The Devils tallied three runs off of a Seminerio single and a two run double by Dan Pregno.

CSI had an answer for the Devils this time, scoring three runs at the bottom of the seventh. Dan Lynch led off with a walk and Bryan Moreno reached with a HBP to rbing up pinch hitter, Joey Falcone. The freshman singled to right scoring Lynch. After a pitching change, Henry Roman grounded out helping Falcone cross the plate to put the Dolphins closer at 6-4. Gale’s sac fly scored Roman to end the inning with the Dolphins down by one.

To close the ninth inning was Gale who got the Dolphins out of the inning with no hits or runs. FDU’s Chris Laudati struck out two and a caught foul ball ruined CSI’s last effort in the ninth.

The Dolphins will travel to CCNY on Saturday, April 16 for a 12:00 pm doubleheader.
