Montclair State University defeated CSI softball 4-0 and 15-3 this afternoon at the CSI Softball Complex. The Dolphins dropped to a 9-7 record while the visiting Red Hawks extended to 10-4.

Game one saw five silent innings before the Red Hawks tallied a run at the top of the sixth with a homerun by Dana Amato. Montclair added three more runs in 7th inning off three hits.

Danielle Ponsiglione suffered the loss with allowing seven hits while Alex Hill took the win striking out nine Dolphins.

Montclair didn’t waste time in game two scoring a run in the top of the first. Jen Volpe knocked in the first run of the day for CSI in the second inning with a single. The Red Hawks answered with four runs at the top of the third inning. It was Montclair’s fourth inning, however, that took control of the game. Behind seven hits and two CSI errors the Red Hawks tallied 10 runs to put the score at 15-1. CSI squeezed in two runs with a RBI double by Danielle Brandow in their last chance in the bottom 5th but it was not enough.

Michelle Ferraiuolo took the loss for CSI while J Miller had the win for Montclair.

Raechel Strobel had three hits, which tallied the 100th hit of her career. Katie Flynn also added three hits.

The Dolphins will host Union College on Saturday, April 9 in a 2:00 pm doubleheader.
