To the College Campus Community:

This is a reminder to everyone that effective July 1, 2011, smoking and the use of all tobacco products will only be permitted in Designated Smoking Areas.  Smoking and the use of all tobacco products will be strictly prohibited in all other areas of the College campus, including in all vehicles on College property.

For your convenient reference, a Designated Smoking Areas brochure is available online from the Tobacco-Free downloads page.  It provides information concerning the Designated Smoking Areas and smoking cessation resources.

Please be advised that the College of Staten Island’s Implementation Plan for The CUNY Revised Tobacco Policy has also been posted for your review on the College’s comprehensive “Tobacco-Free” Web site: www.csi.cuny.edu/tobaccofree.

The Implementation Plan was based upon recommendations by CSI’s Tobacco-Free Environment Task Force whose members were representative of all campus constituents.

The cooperation of the entire campus community is essential to the success of this initial implementation phase of the CUNY Revised Tobacco Policy, as we move toward a campus-wide prohibition on smoking and use of all tobacco products as of July 2012.

Thank you for your assistance with this important initiative.

Sincerely,

Linda Conte, Health & Wellness Services
Richard Gid Powers, Department of History
Co-chairs of the Tobacco-Free Environment Task Force
