The College of Staten Island women’s softball program will be conducting its annual three-day clinic in mid-August, so now is the perfect time to sign up your rising softball star to participate.  Sponsored by CSI’s CUNYAC Championship squad that went to the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament, Head Coach Dr. Stella Porto and her assistants, along with members of the team, will work with clinic participants one-on-one and position by position with field work conducted at the CSI Softball Complex located in CSI’s gated 204-acre campus.

Clinic days will be Tuesday through Thursday, August 16-18, with a rain date scheduled for Friday, August 19.  Clinic times are from 9:00am to 3:00pm and will feature instruction on pitching, offense, and defense, to include work on everything from general mechanics and weight training, to complex finger positioning for advanced pitch techniques and stance and footwork tactics in the batter’s box.

Cost of the Clinic is $150 per participant.  CSI assistant coaches Charlie Mattera, Betty Zwingraf and Melissa Quiles will also marquee the instruction, joined by two-time defending CUNYAC Pitcher of the Year Danielle Ponsiglione heading up the CSI team that will be on hand to meet, greet, and assist participants.
