Women’s basketball fell to Old Westbury, 69-59, in a pre-holiday non-conference game on Thursday, December 22nd on the road. The Dolphins dropped to a 4-5 record while Old Westbury extended to a 4-5 record.

Old Westbury held a steady lead beginning three minutes into the game before taking a double digit lead at the seven minute mark. With a 19-2 run, the Panthers grabbed 31-22 lead by halftime.

Down by 24 at 15 minute mark, CSI closed the gap to 40-31 with a 17-2 run with the help of a Rachel Rosado layup and jump shot and Nicole Quattrochhi’s two three pointers. The Panthers managed to extend their lead to 16 before CSI would go on a 17-6 run (seven points by Olivia Tierno), to put them within five, 57-52 in the final two minutes. Foul shooting put the icing on the cake for the Panthers making all four in the final minute.

Tierno led the Dolphins with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Nikki Fabozzi added 12 points while Katelyn Hepworth added 11 with seven rebounds. Rosado also added 10 points to go with five rebounds and three steals.

Denise Zajonc led the Panthers with 17 points while DeAndra Scott added 15 rebounds and 14 points. Kim Weathers and Deslyn Applewhaite added 10 points each.

The Dolphins will resume action in the new year as they take on Medgar Evers on Wednesday, January 4 at home at 5:30 pm. The men will follow with a 7:30 pm game vs. Medgar Evers.
