Team Gittleson shows their College pride during the 2011 Homecoming Festival's Breast Cancer Walkathon.

Throughout the month of October, the College of Staten Island will spotlight the successes of the members of the College community with its Second Annual October Recognition Month, featuring an extensive calendar of events.

CSI Interim President Dr. William J. Fritz notes, “The College of Staten Island’s Second Annual October Recognition Month is a celebration of the diversity and achievements of our College community. It also underscores the critical contributions, hard work, and commitment of our faculty, staff, and supporters, with the goal of providing our students with the best education possible so that they may succeed at CSI and eventually benefit society in meaningful careers.”

The festivities begin this year with the College’s Homecoming Festival, which includes the CSI Breast Cancer Walkathon to benefit the Staten Island Breast Cancer Research Initiative. The day will also include a Baseball Alumni Game, as well as Men’s and Women’s soccer games, activities for the kids, vendors, lectures by CSI faculty members, and much more.

The celebration continues on October 19 with the Employee of the Month Ceremony, a Scholarship Reception for scholarship donors and recipients on the 23rd, the Dean’s List Ceremony on the 24th, and Convocation on October 25, which will include a recognition of faculty and staff with service anniversaries in five-year increments.

Later in the month, CSI will hold its first annual Alumni Fellow Day on October 30, honoring Jerod Loeb ’71, Executive Vice President of the Joint Commission, a national body that certifies and accredits more than 19,000 healthcare organizations and programs.

The list of events will conclude in early November with the Faculty/Staff Recognition reception on November 8.
