Our first “Dean’s Symposium” will take place a week from today. Let me remind you that the symposia will feature outstanding accomplishments of our faculty, new curricula developments, and events of national and international import. We look forward to fostering conversations that stimulate the intellect, introduce new perspectives, and engage our emotions.

We are very excited to begin this series on Tuesday, Oct. 9 in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) Recital Hall from 2:30pm to 4:00pm with a roundtable discussion on the local and national dimensions of the upcoming federal elections, using the recently published work, Staten Island: Conservative Bastion in a Liberal City, as a point of departure. Topics will include local and national voting patterns, and public policy challenges facing the borough and the country.  The event will be moderated by Associate Professor Richard Flanagan, and will posthumously honor Professor Emeritus Daniel Kramer.

Please spread the word. We are looking forward to seeing you on Oct. 9.
