Comedian Robert Klein comes to the CFA on April 27.

Experience Robert Klein, a legendary comedic icon who has entertained us for more than 40 years in comedy, Broadway, television, and film. Klein is a man of many talents and was the first comedian to star in his own HBO special, with several more following. Join this legend for a night of laughter on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 8:00pm at the Center for the Arts (CFA) Springer Concert Hall. Over the years, Robert Klein has become a seasoned professional. Not limited to just comedy, he has been nominated for his co-starring role in NBC’s hit series Sisters, twice for Grammy Awards for Best Album of the Year for Child of the 50’s and Mind over Matter, he received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor for They’re Playing Our Song, and won an Obie (Off-Broadway Theater Award) and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in Wendy Wasserstein’s, The Sisters Rosensweig.

In1975, Klein was the first comedian to appear in a live concert on Home Box Office (HBO). Since his debut he has gone on to do nine one-man shows for HBO and released Robert Klein: The HBO Specials 1975-2005, a collector’s DVD box set to critical acclaim. His most recent special for HBO, Robert Klein: Unfair and Unbalanced, aired on June 12, 2010 and is also available on DVD. This special earned him a second Emmy nomination in 2011 for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.

Klein has also appeared in many notable films including, Hooper, The Owl and the Pussycat, Primary Colors, People I Know, Two Weeks Notice, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and The Back-Up Plan with Jennifer Lopez. 

Along with a career in comedy, television, and film, Klein adds author to the list. The Amorous Busboy from Decatur Avenue is a contagiously funny memoir about growing up in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Born in the Bronx, Robert Klein is a lifelong New Yorker who loves performing for the people in his hometown. Join us for an evening of hilarity and high-jinks.
