The College of Staten Island men’s basketball squad have learned that they will get a chance to put their defending ECAC Metro NY/NJ Championship on the line, as it was announced that they have garnered the No. 5 seed in the eight-team tournament that kicks off on Wednesday.  CSI will travel to No. 4 Lehman College at 7pm in the Bronx to kick off quarterfinal play.

A total of four CUNYAC teams were selected for play, including top-seeded Brooklyn College, who will host No. 8 Centenary College in Brooklyn on Wednesday.  No. 2 Rutgers University – Newark will host No. 7 York College, while No. 3 New York University will host No. 6 Rutgers University – Camden.  The semifinals and final will be played this upcoming weekend at the site of the highest remaining seed.

For the Dolphins, this is their second-straight ECAC Metro NY/NJ Tournament berth.  The team took the tournament for only the second time in their history and the first time in 28 years last year in their historic 28-3 season.  CSI fell in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals to York College a week ago on Sunday.

This will be the Dolphins’ 18th appearance in ECAC postseason competition.  The team sports a 14-15 overall record in the tournament.  As per the quarterfinal tilt on Wednesday, Lehman took both regular-season meetings against the Dolphins, taking a 95-73 decision on January 9, before an 81-64 decision on February 17.  Lehman dropped a two point decision to Brooklyn College in the CUNYAC Semifinal round.
