Explore the joys of foraging for wild edibles in New York City with CSI faculty author and former New York Times urban forager Ava Chin, who was recently featured on PBS’s The Victory Garden. Prof. Chin will discuss identifying, preparing, and enjoying the edible plants, herbs, and mushrooms native to New York City. Her recent book, Eating Wildly: Foraging for Life, Love, and the Perfect Meal (Simon & Schuster, 2014), is a food memoir about being raised in Flushing, NY by a single mother and loving Chinese grandparents. Eating Wildly reveals how foraging and the DIY-food movement helped the author to reconcile her past and taught her important lessons in self-reliance. Please join us for an interesting presentation and tasty brunch to benefit scholarships at CSI.
