The College of Staten Island men’s soccer team stayed unbeaten for the seventh game in a row with a 1-0 win over Lehman College this afternoon at the CSI Soccer Complex. CSI outshot the Lightning, 11-3, in the first half which led to the lone goal of the game by Mohammed Ndao which was assisted by Brayan Evo from a corner kick. The Dolphins improve to 6-6-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the CUNYAC while the Lightning fall to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the CUNYAC.

With the win this afternoon coach John Tardy extents his longest unbeaten streak to seven in a row.

Lehman had a chance to score early on when Brandon Ruiz struck a ball from 30 yards out that ricocheted off the cross bar. The Dolphins defense held the Lightning in check for a majority of the game holding them to just eight shots and only allowing two to get on frame. The Lightning had their best chance to score in the second half when they found open space in the 18 and almost squeezed one through the legs of Kyle Coffey.

The Dolphins came into this afternoon’s game determined to get a win after their lopsided defeat 7-3 last year at Lehman College and did just that. CSI dominated the first half of this afternoon’s game garnering six corner kicks to just two for the Lightning. The men were able to convert one of those early corners into a goal when Evo curled one in from the left side of the field and found the head of Ndao for the only goal of the game.

The Dolphins had four yellow cards in this game (#18 Emmanuel Agboola, #15 Philip Lefkowitz, #16 Vasyl Fedortsi, #22 Youssef Aly) while the Lightning had one (#17 Bijean Johnson).

CSI is back in action on Saturday vs York College at Randall’s Island #70 at 12:00 pm.
