The College of Staten Island women’s basketball team will be looking to crawl out of a recent skid tonight and just in time for the CUNYAC season to boot, when they travel to take on Hunter College to renew their rich rivalry, at 5pm.  The Dolphins are 1-3 this season and will take on a Hawks team that is 2-2 and coming off of a recent split in its own Tip-Off Tournament played over the weekend.

Players To Watch (CSI):  Freshman Nicole Vierno garnered the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honor this week coming off of a solid week and a stellar debut against Drew (20 points, 13 rebounds).  Samantha Flecker is also having a hit start to the season, averaging a healthy 17.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Players To Watch (HC):   Through four games Widly Couloute is getting plenty doe for the Hawks, averaging 16.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest,  Jade Aponte is the only other Hawks player to average double figures in scoring with 11.8 per contest.  Ayanna Hudson does plenty of work underneath, averaging exactly 10 rebounds per contest.
News and Notes: These two squads have split the last four meetings, and the rivalry has been a good one, with CSI sporting a slight edge in the series, eight games to seven, since 2006.  Four of the last five meetings have been decided by less than 10 points.  Hunter is 20-9 all-time against CSI at home, but the Dolphins have won the last two against the Hawks at the Sportsplex, and the last home Hunter win against CSI came back in 2012.  Look for turnovers to be an important part of tonight’s game.  The Dolphins are a +40 in turnovers this season and are forcing 22.3 opponent turnovers per game.  Hunter is committing close to 22 turnovers per game and are a -1.3 in turnovers per game this season.  CSi is second in the CUNYAC, averaging 77 points per game while Hunter is seventh overall at 55.5 points per contest.  Ayanna Hudson is ranked 19th in the nation in blocked shots per game (3.25) for Hunter.  CSi as a team is 16th in the nation in assist to turnover ratio (1.41).
