The College of Staten Island women’s soccer program took on the Hawks of Montclair tonight in Montclair, NJ.  The Dolphins have now lost two games over a three game stretch after starting the season with six unbeaten games.  CSI fell 7-1 to the perennial powerhouses and drop to 6-2-1 overall while the Hawks improved to 8-1-1.

The powerful attack of the Hawks proved to be too much for the Dolphins’ stout back line.  CSI came into today’s game with just one goal allowed on the year.  Montclair was able to find cracks in the defense and rip off shots that Nicole Mignone has not seen all season.  The first goal came in the 13th minute for the Hawks and the flood gates opened after that with the fifth goal coming in the 43rd minute of the first half.

Krista Anson was able to convert for the fourth time this season after receiving a pass from Natalia Sandor in the 41st minute to avoid being shutout.

When the Dolphins take on perennial powers they have struggled in the first half of the game before finally settling down in the second.  Against Kean the Dolphins allowed a goal within the first five minutes before they settled in and shut down the Cougar offense.  Tonight against the Hawks they allowed just two goals in the second half.

The Dolphins will return to action on Monday, October 3rd against Maritime at 4pm at the CSI Soccer Complex.
