The College of Staten Island women’s volleyball team is back in action today as part of their busy week.  They will take on a pair of opponents in Sarah Lawrence and Old Westbury in a pair of matches played at the Sarah Lawrence College campus in Bronxville, NY.  CSI will take on the host Gryphons at 11:00am, and then the Panthers shortly after at 1:00pm.

Players to Watch (CSI): CSI’s offensive production continues to get funneled through Siobhan Granich, who leads the squad with 61 kills on 223 attacks.  Vanessa Reyes leads the attacking opportunities with 249, while junior Jessica Cafiero needs just a single assist to hit 100 for the season.  Defensively, libero Victoria Wong is the anchor with 162 digs this season.
Players to Watch (SLC): Francesca Kohani has been tremendous this season with 146 kills on 359 attacks and she is the centerpiece offensively.  C.J. Kelley leads the way with 37 service aces and Lauren Kilroy paces the team with 154 digs.
Players to Watch (OW): Ruth Vargas paces the Panthers with 49 kills and 47 digs.  She is also strong at the front of the net defensively with 23 blocks (13 solo). Sofia Goris is ahead of the pack with 13 aces.  
News and Notes: Today marks the first meeting against Sarah Lawrence since 2010, and it’s the first meeting in Bronxville since 2008.  The Dolphins are 1-1 all-time at Sarah Lawrence and 2-2 overall.  They share four common opponents so far with SLC, with the Gryphons having gone 4-0 against those teams and CSI 2-2.  CSI has won the last two games over the Panthers of Old Westbury in 2014 and 2015.  Old Westbury’s last win in the series came back in 2011.  This is only the second meeting the two teams are having on a neutral court.  Prior to the two straight wins that CSI has had over OW, the Panthers had won six straight meetings from 2003-11.
