The College of Staten Island Office of Public Safety has determined that circumstances exist that may pose a risk of theft from vehicles on campus. Please read this notification and take any necessary precautions to avoid being a potential victim. Incident Summary:

THEFT FROM A VEHICLE:  On Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at approximately 6:00pm, we had a theft from a vehicle that occurred in the gravel lot adjacent to the soccer field. In this incident, an unknown individual stole a cell phone from a parked vehicle that had the windows left open. There was no suspect description.

SUSPICIOUS PARTY:  On Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at approximately 6:30pm, a suspicious male was observed trying to open the doors of vehicles in the same gravel lot adjacent to the soccer field. This male was scared off by a visitor to the campus. He was last seen heading across Loop Road toward Willowbrook Park. Suspect description: male, 5’9”, 170lbs, wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and a dark baseball cap.

Safety Tips:

Thefts from vehicles can happen anytime, day or night. Park in well-lit, heavily traveled areas.

Close and lock all windows and doors when you exit.

Never leave valuables in plain sight. (Phones, GPS units, coins, charging cords, or other small items can be enough to invite the thief.)
