The College of Staten Island softball team returns to action this afternoon after a 9-day layoff after several rain cancellations. Today the Dolphins will square off against the Panthers of Purchase College in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.

Players To Watch (CSI):  Patricia Riches continues to have an outstanding rookie campaign as she sits atop the team with a .580 batting average and 21 RBIs.  In the field, Riches is having the same success as she has tallied 25 assists and just one error from the shortstop position this year. Vanessa Jioia has been in the zone this season and sits second on the team with a .439 batting average, 12 RBIs and a single home run. Jacqueline Cautela has been lights out in the circle, having her finest season to date, boasting a 0.18 ERA and a 6-0 record.
Players To Watch (PC): Mary Adams paces the Panthers with a .500 batting average this season while sitting in second with three RBIs. In the circle, Nicole Fortuna has pitched well with a 2.41 ERA and a 3-1 record while collecting 18 strikeouts.
News & Notes: The Dolphins have not lost a game at home all season, boasting a 4-0 record at the CSI Softball Complex.  Staten Island also comes into today’s doubleheader riding a 9-game winning stream while the Panthers are coming off of a win against Old Westbury.  These teams have only ever faced each other once before with the Dolphins coming out on top 9-0.
