The Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association released its 2017 award winners today and CSI’s Frank Schettino and Christina Pasaturo, on the heels of fantastic seasons, were on the list.  Schettino was named the Division III Co-Player of the Year while Pasaturo was honored as a first-team all-star.  The pair will be honored at the 87th Annual Haggerty Awards Dinner on April 26, at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY.

A senior who easily enjoyed his most productive season, Schettino was named an NABC and HERO Sports All-America as well as earning CUNYAC and ECAC Metro NY/NJ Player of the Year honors.  The point guard set school career records for assists and steals this season and had five triple-doubles this season (most in D3), finishing second in the nation in assists with 258 in 28 games (9.2 per game). He also led the Dolphins in steals with 78 as well as scoring, tallying an even 18 per game, finishing with 1,612 in his career.

Schettino shares the Player of the Year award in Division III with Ramapo College’s Thomas Bonacum.

After a record-breaking season of her own which also featured CUNYAC and ECAC Metro NY/NJ Player of the Year honors, Pasaturo was also selected with a first-team all-star honor by the MBWA, her second in as many years.  Pasaturo took down the school’s all-time single season scoring record with 629 points, good for 21.7 points per game.  Pasaturo finished as one of the nation’s leaders in three-pointers (109), breaking that single season CSI record as well, while also finishing among the nation’s Top 10 in steals with 84 and average minutes played per game with 35.9.

Pasaturo is in her junior year, and will come into her final year with 1,573 career points, 376 career steals, 206 steals and 238 three-pointers.

All of the men’s and women’s honorees will be showcased at the MBWA’s Haggerty Dinner in Tarrytown on April 26.  The dinner spotlights all first and second team all-stars spanning all three NCAA Divisions.
