Over this past weekend, the Willowbrook Campus experienced a power outage and has been running on emergency generators. In preparing to return to the power grid, we will have to shut down generators for approximately eight hours.

In order to complete this critical work, please be advised that the College will turn off all power on Thursday at 5:00pm. All evening classes (beginning after 4:30pm) and programs in all buildings, as well as indoor events in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) and the Sports and Recreation Center (Building 1R) are canceled. Outdoor events can continue until dark. We anticipate that all classes and activities will resume as scheduled on Friday morning.

We will send out an email on Thursday night to confirm that the College will be open Friday.

We had hoped that this electrical work could be completed over the weekend; however, in consultation with CUNY, DASNY, Con Edison, and our electrical contractors, Jemco, and in consideration of the pending inclement weather predicted for this coming weekend, it was determined to return to the power grid on Thursday.

Please note, that all personnel should be out of their buildings by 5:00pm on Thursday for safety reasons. Be sure to turn off all lights, computers, printers, and any additional electrical appliances. Please observe best back up procedures for your work and be advised that all elevators will be inoperable after 5:00pm.

The College will keep you updated on this situation.

Thank you for your patience.

The College also wishes to thank CUNY, DASNY, Con Edison, Jemco, and the CSI Facilities staff for their hard work since Saturday, Apr. 29.
