Here is an update on the Loop Road construction project as well as an online map that outlines these updates.

Forest Hill Road Exit – Back Gate Intersection – The back gate exit/entrance will be closed beginning Wednesday, Sept. 20at 6:00am and re-open on Monday Sept. 25, time to be determined, to complete the construction of the new roadway at that location.   There are no classes scheduled during this time.

South Road – Weather permitting, the South Road, which loops around from the back gate past Building 6S will be complete and open to two-way traffic on Monday, Sept. 25. With the completion of South Road and the back gate intersection, vehicles, including the Loop Bus service, will be able to circle the campus without issue. This will also bring the small gravel faculty/staff parking lot between 4S and 6S back online, restoring about 15 spots.

East Side and Parking – Weather permitting, we anticipate completion of the east side of Loop Road as well as the two gravel parking lots by the first week of October. As we get closer, we will be able to provide a more accurate timeline of when those parking lots will be back in operation. With the re-opening of those areas, all 300 parking locations lost during the construction will be available once again. We have phased the construction throughout the rest of the project where we do not anticipate the need to take any additional parking locations out of service for the remainder of construction.

West Side – Beginning on Monday, Oct. 2, the west side of Loop Road between the softball field and parking lot #2 will be closed to vehicle traffic. To accommodate traffic, the eastbound lane of that road will be converted to two-way traffic. Please be mindful of detour signs and traffic cones in this area.

Administrative Loop – On Sept. 25, we will begin construction on the Administrative Loop (1A, 2A, 3A, and 1P). You may see some construction fencing or staging going up sometime this week but we will not close the loop to traffic until Monday. The Administrative Loop will be closed to vehicle traffic until the first or second week of November. Accessible paths of travel for pedestrians to 3A and the Great Lawn will be maintained during this work.

Campus Transit –  During this phase of construction, there will be no access to campus and MTA buses outside of buildings 1A and 2A. The MTA S93 and Ferry Shuttle buses will pick up and drop off riders only at the Victory Blvd. gate. To assist those commuters impacted by this temporary change, the Loop Bus will pick up passengers at the Victory Blvd. gate and drop off/pick up at various bus stops around Loop Road.

Accessibility – For Accessibility transportation, the MTA Access-A-Ride will continue their services to 1R, 5N, and 1L. The campus Accessibility Transport is also available as before to assist with providing transportation options. For more information, please contact Operational Services at 718.982.3220.
