The College of Staten Island women’s volleyball team fell for the third straight time this evening, falling to the College of Saint Elizabeth by a 3-0 count in Morristown, NJ, as part of non-conference play.  Individual scores were 25-15, 25-18, and 25-21.  The Eagles improved to 5-11 with the win, while the Dolphins dropped their overall mark to 3-11.

St. Elizabeth’s scattered 15 kills in the opening set next to just five for the Dolphins, as CSI was mired ina  poor attacking percentage at just -.040.  although CSI was better at the net in the second set, It was the Eagles that responded with a great night at the service line, notching 13 for the match to CSI’s seven.

Stephanie Mitarotonda scattered 9 kills to lead all scorers for St. Elizabeth’s while Yasmin’na Muhammad and Christy Marte were next with seven each.  Mitarotonda also posted five aces while Marte has a pair of blocks.  Maura Farley was the leader is assists with 21 while Jessica Garreffa had a great day on the back line with 16 defensive digs.

For CSI, Margaret O’Malley-Rebovich led the way with five kills while Vanessa Reyes and Caitlin Esposito had four apiece.  Teresa Maresca notched four aces, while Jessica Cafiero led the team with 11 assists and 15 digs.

CSI will have a day off before returning to the court on Saturday, October 7, for a tri-match with Farmingdale State and Delaware Valley beginning at 11am at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center.
