Please see the online HBP Transitioning to Retirement schedule for November 2017.

While employees may go to you for information on health benefits for active employees, and retirees come to the Health Benefits Client Service Center at OLR for retiree information, employees transitioning to retirement often turn to their pension plans or unions with their health benefits questions. For this reason, we introduced a seminar called Transitioning to Retirement last year, which is being offered at 40 Rector Street, on the 3rd floor.

To ensure that employees have all the necessary information to take full advantage of the benefits available to them, we ask that you encourage all employees transitioning to retirement to make the Health Benefits Program one of their stops on the way to retirement. There will be seminars held each week, with alternating sessions. Employees can sign up for these seminars on the OLR Website. Alternatively, employees may visit www.nyc.gov/hbp and scroll down to the bottom of the page where they will find the Transition to Retirement flyer under “Featured Items.” By clicking this flyer, they will be linked directly to the Eventbrite registration page.

In addition, we have developed a two-part video series that provides employees who are getting ready to retire with information about how their health insurance will change as a retiree. The videos can be found on the OLR Website:
Part One (5:12)

Part Two (4:13)

While many questions will be answered in these videos, the seminar provides employees with the opportunity to address individual and personal issues one-on-one with knowledgeable Retirement Representative.
