The College of Staten Island swimming & diving team returns to action tonight fresh off of their win over Lehman on Friday.  Tonight they take on perennial favorites Hunter College on the road in Manhattan at 6pm.

CSI vs HUNTER COLLEGE
Matchup:  CSI Women (2-5, 2-1 CUNYAC)  vs. Hunter College (5-2, 3-0 CUNYAC)
Where: North Pool – 695 Park Avenue, New York, NY
All-Time Series: Hunter leads, 16-3
Last Meeting: December 9, 2016 – Hunter won 151-70
Players to Watch (CSI): CSI’s Ewa Wojciechowska continues to be at the CUNYAC’s elite level, leading the way for CSI with 206.5 points earned this season and 15 first-place finishes in individual events overall.  Wojciechowska was also named the CSI Female Athlete of the Week and the CUNYAC’s Scholar-Athlete of the Month as well.  Alicia Defonte is next in line in points earned this year for the Dolphins, who stopped a four-match slide with a big win over Lehman this past Friday evening.  CSI is also getting great production from first-year swimmer Cecelia Mauro, who is excelling in distance events and sits third on the team with 111 points earned and 11 total medals.  Victoria Crea doubles on the Women’s Basketball team, and sits second on the squad with six first-place finishes.
Players to Watch (HC): Look for Julia Mamone in distance events to pace Hunter tonight with Gabrielle Oczos and Alexandra Rubiano to figure into the mix in freestyle events.  Sera Knobler is a perennial favorite in many races and has had success against the Dolphins in the past.
News & Notes: This has been a series dominated in recent years by the Hawks, especially in meets played in Hunter’s pool, which features only four lanes.  CSI won the first two meetings between the two schools in 1999-00, but since then Hunter has won 16 of the last 17 and have won eight in a row in their home pool.  Last year, HC took a lopsided 151-70 win over the Dolphins, so CSI will hope to make up some significant ground tonight.  CSI’s last win over Hunter was back in October of 2012, a 119-116 win at the Sports & Recreation Center.  Hunter is 3-1 this season at home while the Dolphins are 1-1 on the road.  Hunter is 3-0 againt the rest of the CUNYAC and have won their meets by an average of 33.3 points.   Both teams share a win over Lehman on the road.  Hunter won their meeting 123-77, while CSI pulled out a 109-94 win over the Lightning just this Friday.
