Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island women’s tennis team won for the second time in their last three outings, and in the process clinched a spot in the CUNYAC Postseason Tournament, taking an 8-1 win over York College in what was the regular season finale for the Dolphins and Senior Day for lone senior Guetanie Romain.  CSI finalized at 3-6 overall and 1-5, and will be the No. 6 seed in the six-team postseason beginning on Sunday.

CSI got off to a flying start with a clean sweep of doubles.  The No. 1 team of Katherine Vallrroel and Hannah Bruschi were able to get by Geraldine Guese and Isabelle Martinez, 8-5.  One step lower, senior Guetanie Romain and Lorianna Fernandez were able to easily slide by Rimsha Razi and Kenya Gurries, 8-0.  Iris Cule and Mariah DeGuia were the next in line, and they powered over Kristal Beaton and Monique James, 8-1.

Playing eight-point pro sets in singles, CSI was able to take five of the six singles flights to breeze to the win.

The Dolphins, who now own the No. 6 seed in the tournament will travel to face No. 3 Hunter College on Sunday at a time and place yet to be determined.
