The College of Staten Island men’s and women’s cross-country teams are coming off their biggest meets of the year at the annual CUNYAC Cross-Country Championships, and now the team is getting set for the NCAA Regional Championships with a chance to qualify for Nationals later this month.  This morning meet takes place in Gloucester Country DREAM Park in New Jersey.

Race: Women’s 6K at 11:00 am; Men’s 8K at 12:00 pm
Where: Gloucester County DREAM Park, Logan Township, NJ

Runners to Watch (CSI): A total of 12 runners will be taking part today, as CSI will send the minimum of five on the women’s side and a total of seven on the men’s side.  Tristiana Adragna is coming off of a personal best in the CUNYAC Championship and is hoping to parlay that to a great time in Regionals as she will look to qualify for a seat at Nationals.  Brittani Broderick has been a consistent No. 2 all year long and her times keep improving at just the right time.  CSI got great results this season by Deavion Brown, Rachel Edmonds and Veronica Lorenzo, and they will look to keep up the pace in their biggest races of the year.  The CSI men have had a great one-two punch all year long in senior Liam McMunn and freshman Spencer Milito, and the pair figure to be among the top again this morning.  Jaron Thompson has been shaving his times down consistently so look for him to have a great run, while Erik Sanchez will contest top come in the top half of the runners in the 8k.
News & Notes: Last year, neither team took part in the NCAA Regionals.  The Regionals help establish a qualifying cut off for the National Championship race which will be held.next week at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winnecone, Wisconsin.  The Dolphins are coming off of a third-place finish on the women’s side at the CUNYAC Championship while the men placed fifth overall.  Individually CSI is hoping to crack top times to get them to the national stage.
