Then and Now: Willowbrook, once farmland, now the home of the CSI

Looking at the library in 2005 at the College of Staten Island. It was ranked in the fourth tier of northern colleges, with the highest freshman retention rate (88 percent) in its grouping, according to U.S. News and World Report. (Staten Island Advance)

SI LIVE — The Mid-Island neighborhood of Willowbrook, like many other neighborhoods on the Island, was once all farmland, with a brook running through the area, hence the name Willowbrook.

Today it is a thriving diverse community, suburban and rich with local businesses and a few important educational hubs — such as the College of Staten Island and the Jewish Foundation School. Continue reading this story online.
