After the College of Staten Island’s first-ever varsity showing in women’s outdoor track & field, three Dolphins have earned yearly honors from the City University of New York Athletic Conference.  Deavion Brown, an All-Star during the indoor season, collected the conference’s Rookie of the Year honor while the indoor season’s Player of the Year, Kharyn Ethridge, was named an All-Star.  Two -sport star Cassidy Iannariello, who joined the Dolphins for the outdoor campaign, was named to the conference’s All-Sportsmanship Team.

It was hard to deny Brown of her top honor, as she was one of the most dominating sprinters in the CUNYAC all season long.  She led CSI in the 100-meter Dash (12.60), and the 200-meter Dash (25.97) and was a part of CSI’s top 4×400 team as well.  Although slowed down by a late injury, Brown won the CUNYAC gold medal in the 100-meter Dash at the Championship on May 12, topping out at 13.30 on the rain-soaked course.  During the season she took home four other Top 3 finishes in both the 100 & 200 sprints.

For Ethridge, the junior transfer picked up right where she left off during the indoor season, when she was named the CUNYAC’s Player of the Year.  During outdoor season, Ethridge led all Dolphins in the 800-meter Run with a time of 2:28.01 and the 1,500-meter Run with a time of 5:05.28, earning a part of CSI’s top 4×400 team as well.  After five Top 10 finishes in meets this season, Ethridge had a great showing at the CUNYAC Championships, winning the silver medal in the 800 with a time of 2:35.54 and then doubling back and picking up gold in the 1,500 with a great run of 5:14.25.

As for Iannariello, the volleyball standout turned track & field ace was seen everywhere for CSI this season, stepping in and racing in track events as well as field events like the javelin throw.  The CSI Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President was also named the Bill Cali/John Scrivani Sportsmanship Award winner at the CSI Awards Banquet days ago, earning a place on the CUNYAC All-Sportsmanship Team as well.
