College of Staten Island men’s soccer senior Jacob Szumanski collected his first CUNYAC honor of the season, grabbing Defender of the Week honors after CSI’s 2-0 week.  The Dolphins collected a pair of wins over CUNYAC opponents, holding the opposition scoreless.

Szumanski was a big reason why the Dolphins were so stout defensively.  The Dolphins pitched back-to-back clean sheets allowing only five total shots in 180 combined minutes against York College and Medgar Evers College.  Szumanski played every minute of the matches, controlling the back line and often marking the opponents’ marquee goal-scorers.  Szumanski also registered four shots in the 7-0 winner over York.  He has played and started in every game this season.

The Dolphins are 6-3-1 this season and are sporting a 2-1 CUNYAC record.  They will play host to Baruch College in their next contest on Wednesday, September 28, at 4pm at the CSI Soccer Complex.
