The College of Staten Island has been featured prominently in a recent New York Times piece, which highlights CSI English Professors Tyehimba Jess, Cate Marvin, and Patricia Smith.  The article, “How CUNY Became Poetry U.” notes that, “…CUNY is home to a surprising number of extremely accomplished, recognized — some might even say fancy — poets.”

Written by Elizabeth A. Harris, the piece discusses Professor Jess’s recent Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his book Olio and includes an interview with Professor Marvin, also an award-winning poet and author of three collections of poetry, including Oracle.

Professor Smith, author of several poetry collections, as well as a children’s book and a nonfiction work, is also mentioned in the story, which appeared online and in the print version of The Times.
