The College of Staten Island men’s soccer team has equaled its longest winning streak since 2003 with a 2-0 win over CUNYAC-rivals Medgar Evers College in an evening game played at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY.  CSI improved to 8-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in CUNYAC, while MEC fell to 1-8, 0-3, respectively.

Statistics have not been made available as of press time, but the Dolphins got both goals from their newest addition, Omer Abdella, who joined the team just over two weeks ago and was playing in just his fifth game as a Dolphin.

On the first marker, Abdella received a sterling pass from senior Adrian Cosovic, and Abdella put a perfect lefty boot on it and into the top of the net to get the visitors up 1-0.  Later in the match, Abdella scored his second career goal, this time via a Mike Arellanes cross that Abdella wa sable to knock down into the net via the header.

The eight game win streak matches CSI’s longest in 14 years.  In 2003, the Dolphins finished 13-3-1 and played in the CUNYAC Final.  The Dolphins will next be in action on Monday, September 25, with they host No. 11 Rutgers-Neark at the CSI Soccer Complex at 4:00pm in what will undoubtedly be their strongest test this season.
