Lara Saguisag (Assistant Professor) received her PhD in Childhood Studies from Rutgers University-Camden and her MFA in Creative Writing from The New School. Her research interests focus on theories and histories of childhood, children’s literature, comics, humor and visual culture. Her current project, which was supported by a Library of Congress Swann Foundation Fellowship from 2011 to 2012, examines constructions of childhood and child citizenship in Progressive Era comic strips. She has taught courses in children’s literature, adolescent literature, histories of childhood and creative writing at the University of the Philippines, Rutgers University-Camden and Rowan University.
