The College of Staten Island ‘s radio station, WSIA 88.9 FM, presents a newly produced radio play of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol this holiday season.
The production was created, produced and edited by students and staff in the WSIA studios, located on the campus of CSI in the Willowbrook section of Staten Island. It was written, produced and directed by Laura Parnizari.
A Christmas Carol airs on 88.9 fm every night at 8 p.m. , now through Saturday December 25th.
“I am tremendously proud of the efforts and dedication of the students of WSIA who put in many long hours crafting this program. The studio was in use nearly around the clock during the last few weeks of production,” said John Ladley , the chief engineer of the radio station.
But it wasn’t just the actor’s voices that made the final cut. All of the sound effects used during the performance have been created in-house also. Staffers at WSIA built platforms to record the sounds of walking, running and dancing, and they also constructed Marley’s “chains” to ensure they had the right sound.
Ladley, who also plays the part of Ebenezer Scrooge in the drama, encourages “everyone to listen to this program, saying that “you will be amazed by the quality and creativity of this production.”
The Cast of WSIA’s A Christmas Carol include:
John Ladley as Scrooge
James Sorrenti as Bob Cratchet
Christina Velez as the Ghost of Christmas Past
Steven Hager as the Ghost of Christmas Present
Carl Sabatino as the Narrator
