The results are in and the College of Staten Island has been voted one of the best companies to work for on Staten Island among companies with more than 100 employees. The voting was sponsored by the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC), and presented by SIEDC Ambassadors. Other winners in the 100+ employees category were Con Edison and Eden II.

According to SIEDC Comptroller Karen Sanicola, the SIEDC distributed the ballots to all SIEDC members and emailed to the organization’s 2,500+ database of businesses last fall with a voting deadline of February 2010. All of the Best Companies will be honored at an Awards Ceremony today at the SIEDC’s 12th Annual SI Conference.

Regarding the SIEDC Ambassadors, Sanicola noted that they “serve as the co-chairs for SIEDC’s most highly visible programs. As co-chairs, each Ambassador becomes the public face for a specific program, getting involved in all aspects of planning. Through the Ambassador Program, members not only gain public exposure, but also the ability to cultivate effective relationships with other members of the SIEDC.” CSI President Dr. Tomás Morales serves as an SIEDC Ambassador.

The SIEDC is a non-profit corporation that, according to its Mission Statement, seeks “to enhance a thriving Staten Island economy by promoting public and private investment and encouraging the development of commercial and industrial property and projects in an environmentally friendly manner, all of which improve the quality of life and provide broad and diverse employment opportunities.”
