This morning, at approximately 11:00am, a CSI student, while off campus and while walking to the College from a bus stop on Forest Hill Road, reported that she was approached by a male who attempted to remove her purse and a chain from around her neck. The suspect fled in the direction of the Staten Island Mall. The incident was reported to the CSI Public Safety office. Officers then searched the area for the suspect, but did not find them. The New York City Police Department was notified and is also investigating this incident.

Description of Suspect: Male, White, 25 to 30 years old, Height 5’4”, 140 lbs., dark olive skin, dark short hair, black sweatshirt, black faded jeans

Public Safety would like to remind members of the campus community to be cognizant of their surroundings when walking to campus. Avoid walking alone and do not display money or valuables to strangers.

If you encounter any act of theft or harassment do not expose yourself to harm. Commit the perpetrator’s identity/description to memory, allow the person to leave, and report the incident immediately to the Public Safety Office.
