I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sam Michalowski as Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) following a nationwide search. Dr. Michalowski will assume his role on Thursday, July 1, 2010.
Dr. Michalowski comes to the College of Staten Island with significant experience in institutional research, having served most recently as Senior Research Analyst at LaGuardia Community College. He has also held positions at the CUNY Office of Academic Affairs, where he was responsible for the evaluation of CUNY Collaborative Programs, and at the central Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, evaluating student performance and transfer programs.
Dr. Michalowski holds a PhD in Sociology from the CUNY Graduate Center, an MS in Justice Studies from Arizona State University, and a BA in Sociology (with Honors) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
I would like to acknowledge the dedication, time, and effort of the search committee, chaired by Dr. Ann Lubrano.
On behalf of the Office of Academic Affairs and the entire College community, I would also like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Mr. Warrick Bell, Coordinator of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, who has led the office since 2005.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Michalowski to the College of Staten Island community, as he joins Warrick Bell, Barbara Cohen, Jeanette Vega, and Lucy Lombardo in the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment. We look forward to his expertise and leadership in support of the College’s efforts to expand the use of data and information in decision making.
