College of Staten Island Men’s Swimming conquered the CUNYAC’s first weekly honors of the season. Pavel Buyanov was named CUNYAC Player of the Week while freshman Danila Novikov was named Rookie of the Week.
 
In the team’s first meet of the season against Pace, Buyanov took gold in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 22.34 and in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 57.23. Alongside Vladislav Romanov, Nikolay Shevchenko and Joe Lee, Buyanov helped the team to a first place, 3:34.05 finish, twenty seconds faster then the second place team.
 
In the team’s 108-97 win over Baruch, Buyanov took first in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a mark of 1:01.53 and also in the 100 Yard Breaststroke timing in at 1:11.92.
 
Novikov wasted no time in showing his strength in his first meet as a Dolphin taking two golds including a 2:00.05 finish in the 200 Yard IM and 48.16 in the 100 Yard Freestyle.
 
Against Baruch, he totaled three first place win with a 24.35 mark in the 50 Yard Freestyle and a 54.33 in the 100 yard Freestyle. He also helped the squad of Mohamed Hikal, Joe Lee and Shevchenko to a 1:41.86 win in the 200 yard Freestyle.
 
The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday, November 20, in a 1:00 pm meet against Ramapo College.
