The Gallery of the College of Staten Island/CUNY is pleased to announce the opening of our Spring exhibition, 550 KM Die Druschba Trasse – The Friendship Pipeline; Photographs by Beatrix Reinhardt, on Wednesday, March 9.
The exhibition premieres the recent work of Beatrix Reinhardt, representing evocative sites of the Friendship Pipeline, a segment of the larger gas pipeline that stretches from Siberia to points in Europe and was constructed by the East Germans from 1974 to 1978. The photographs convey a rich and complex mélange of historical, political, social, and ultimately personal histories, and in their course formulate a unique terrain that maps a new aesthetic journey.
The exhibition will run from March 9, 2011 to Saturday, May 14, 2011. Please join us at the opening reception to celebrate the work of our gifted colleague on March 9 from 5:oopm to 7:00pm.
