The College of Staten Island had their best showing of this season so far this past Sunday in the Hunter College Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The women finished fourth amongst the conference schools and even though the men didn’t place their showing of eight men is promising for the rest of the season.

Amina Huseinbegovic led the women coming in 19th place with a time of 23:40, taking almost six minutes off her previous time this season. Jackie Jamaleddine was in next for CSI with a 25:27 time in 40th place while Joanna Villegas was right behind her in 41st place with a 25:32 finish. Bibi Ghafari also bettered her previous best by one minute with a 26:33 finish in the 55th spot. Mallory Baio finished at 27:29, Goosnews Nkama at 28:07, Melissa King at 30:08 and finishing it up for the Dolphins was Kubra Shirazi with a 32:08 time.

On the men’s side, Andrew Pate finished first for the Dolphins at 19:07. Shawn Cybulska finished with a 22:22 time while Christopher Gonzalez was close behind with with a 22:24 completion. Sean Kelly finished at 23:15, Matt Pfaff at 24:40, Mike Gratkowski at 28:09 and Dimitri Mazidis at 30:11.

The Dolphins will travel to Van Cortlandt Park once again next Sunday for Brooklyn’s Invitational before hosting their own meet at Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island.
