The UNCF/Merck Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program is now accepting applications.

The UNCF/Merck Science Initiative provides support to outstanding African American students who are pursuing studies and careers at the undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels. The program provides scholarships, fellowships, and paid internships for undergraduates, mentoring, and unmatched peer networking. Awards are based on GPA, demonstrated interest in a science-related career, and the ability to perform in a laboratory environment.

Applicants must be:

-African American
– Enrolled full-time
-A current junior (planning to graduate in June 2013)
-Majoring in Biological or Chemical Sciences or Engineering (majors in the Chemical Sciences must be planning to complete two semesters of organic chemistry by June 2012)
-A student in good standing with a minimum GPA of 3.3
– U.S. citizen or permanent resident

The application deadline for the program is Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011.
