Women’s soccer continues to stay hot in conference play as the captured a 4-0 victory over York College on Tuesday afternoon. With the win CSI clinches the regular season championship and the first seed in the CUNYAC Tournament. The Dolphins increase to a 10-3 record including a 5-0 conference record while the Cardinals fall to 1-9 and 0-5 in the CUNYAC.
CSI wasted no time to put a score on the board as Demi-Jean Martorano scored on an easy short kick at the mouth of the goal off of a Lauren Neglia pass just under two minutes into the first half. A minute and a half later, Samantha Wysokowski followed with a goal from the left of the net with an assist from Martorano to put the Dolphins up 2-0. CSI tacked one more on the board for the half as Gabriela Galeano found the foot of Liana DeNaro who took a wide open shot for the third goal at 5:59.
After leaving goal for CSI in the second half, Valerie Incontrera had the Dolphins lone goal in the second half at the 52 minute mark with chipped shot over the goalie off of a left side pass from Martorano.
For the second half, Christina Jacob made her debut in goal tackling CSI’s only save of the game. Vanessa Rivera of York had four saves in goal.
At the 26 minute mark, a red card for a rough foul by Wysokowski cost her a seat for the rest of the game and the following game.
CSI totaled 22 shots to York’s four shots.
The Dolphins will travel to Randall’s Island on Friday, October 14, for their last CUNYAC game against CCNY at 7:30 pm.
