The Women’s History Month “Kick-Off” Event, “Celebrating Women’s Leadership,” will be held on Thursday, Mar. 1 in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) Recital Hall from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

“Celebrating Women’s Leadership” will bring the College community together to celebrate and acknowledge women’s leadership, achievement, and advocacy.  This exciting program will feature a keynote presentation by Kathleen Pesile, a Trustee of the Board of The City University of New York, and celebrate the successes of women to encourage us all to be leaders in our professional and personal lives and in our communities.

Another facet of the event is a panel discussion by exceptional female CSI students who have displayed strong leadership, inside and outside the classroom, through professional achievement, volunteer service, advocacy, and athletics.  The discussion will highlight the leadership qualities that promote academic success, civic engagement, and public service.

The program also includes a presentation by the Bertha Harris Women’s Center to promote community awareness and reflect on the important issue of domestic violence through the month-long “Domestic Violence Clothesline” project.

Light refreshments will be served in the Atrium after the event and participants are encouraged to create a t-shirt for the Clothesline in honor of Women’s History Month. March is also CUNY Voter Registration Month.  If you are not yet a registered voter, visit the table that will be set up outside of the Lecture Hall during the event, and complete a voter registration application.

This CC CLUE-certified event is sponsored by the Pluralism and Diversity Committee.
