Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert captured a win in No. 1 singles and No.2 doubles to help the Dolphins to a 5-4 victory.

The Dolphins captured a well competed 5-4 victory over Kean University in women’s tennis on Saturday afternoon. College of Staten Island extends to a 3-3 record while York fell to a 4-2 record.

Starting in doubles play, the team of Erika Tapia and Jaelyn Lee captured an 8-4 win over Illona Stoyko and Jean Baak in the first flight. The Dolphins tied it up in second doubles, as Sabrina Bragerton Nasert and Mediha Mulla defeated Debra Dress and Jackson Samirah, 8-2. However, the Dolphins fell behind after the finals doubles set with an 8-1 loss for Renee Zafok and Nataliya Zitser.

Bragerton-Nasert again tied the Dolphins at 2-2 with a 6-0, 6-4 win in the No.1 singles spot. In second singles, Dress defeated Stoyko, 6-2, 6-1. Both Baak and Mulla captured wins in the 3rd and 4th spot, respectively. Baak defeated Tapia, 6-4, 6-4 while Mulla had a highly competitive match winning with scores of 3-6, 6-3, 10-8. Despite a loss and score of 7-6, 6-7, 9-11 for Zitser in 5th singles, the Dolphins were able to pull away with the win as Zadok captured a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the 6th spot.

The Dolphins are back in action on Tuesday, September 25th as they host John Jay. The Bloodhounds will serve as the home team in the 4:00 pm CUNAYC match.
