The Drama Program of the Department of Performing and Creative Arts presents Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, directed by Professor Lee Papa, on Nov. 15, 16, 17, 29, 30, and Dec. 1 at 8:00pm in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) Lab Theatre. Tickets are $10/$5 for students and seniors and are available at Center for the Arts Box Office, 718.982.2787, or at the door on the night of the performance.
Set in today’s world of video chatting, texting, and social media, Romeo and Juliet tells the story of star-crossed lovers from two families who hate each other and how that hate leads to violent ends. Using multiple projections, original music, and scenes on video, this exciting new production breaks apart the play for our fragmented Internet age. At its heart, Romeo and Juliet is still the classic love story, but one that plays out through the power and limitations of technology.
