The College of Staten Island men’s volleyball team lost for the sixth-straight time tonight, falling to York College by a 3-0 count as part of CUNYAC play at Queens this evening.  CSI fell to 4-11 overall and 3-4 in the CUNYAC, while York improved to 6-12, 5-2, respectively.

York got off to a hot start, scoring the first eight points of the first set.Randy Adams was unstoppable serving the ball, leaving the Dolphins defense scrambling. However, the Cardinals cooled off allowing Staten Island (4-11, 3-4 CUNYAC) to make its way back in the game. At the first timeout, York led 16-12, getting outscored 12-8 after its 8-0 start. Despite the small run that the Dolphins put together, York closed out the first set, 25-17.
 
CSI came out stronger in the second set. Early on in the second set, York and Staten Island were tied 8-8. CSI was able to limit the Cardinals’ strong attack. The two teams were going toe-to-toe. The score was 17-17 when the Cardinals’ Frederis Tapia earned a kill en route to a key point after a long rally. York would close out the second set 25-23.
 
The momentum from the second set made its way into the third set. The Cardinals got off to an incredible, 8-1 lead similar to the first set. The Cardinals would not look back from there. Despite a small run at the end of the match, York closed out the Dolphins strongly, winning the set 25-14.
 
Sebastien Francios finished the match with 10 kills and with an outstanding attack percentage of .588. Geffrard finished with a total of 11 kills and five digs. Randy Adams continued his dominant season. He was the king of the sevens, totaling seven kills, seven assists, and seven digs. Philip Szumanski added 15 assists for CSI.
