The College of Staten Island men’s tennis team saw their four-game winning streak come to an end this afternoon, suffering an 8-1 loss to Ramapo College in a non-conference test played in Ramapo, NJ. The win sent the Roadrunners to 11-2 overall while CSI dipped to 6-2.
The Dolphins went to the match short-handed, and with just five players, were forced to concede No. 6 Singles and No, 3 Doubles. Ramapo quickly made it 4-0 by sweeping doubles, despite competitive play. When play turned to singles, CSI freshman Chris Livoti continued his impressive stretch, scoring a win at No. 2 against RC’s Willen Feygin, 6-4, 5-7, 10-6. Mike Abelev, Jacob Khodakov, Justin Bevilaqua and Adam Petrovics were all winners for Ramapo at other flights, all in straight sets.
CSI returns to action tomorrow, hosting Baruch College at 4pm at the CSI Tennis Center. Both undefeated in conference play, the game will determine who wins the CUNYAC Regular Season Championship.
