Race Results – The College of Staten Island women’s cross-country program welcomed in the 2015 competitive season with a 7th-place showing at the Baruch College Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY. Fashion Institute of Technology won the meet with 38 points, followed by Yeshiva University with 60 points.
CSI three-sport star Victoria Crea was the catalyst this week, pulling in a CSI top-time of 29:57 in the 6k event. Crea’s time was 17th overall in the field and was fourth among CUNYAC runners. Victoria Barry was the next Dolphin to come in, cracking in a time of 31:19, good for 33rd overall in the 86-person event. Rebecca Vidal punched in a time of 32:41, and she was followed by newcomer Kristina Morel, who came in at 33:51.
Rounding out the CSI class was Carissa Mazzeo, who recorded a time of 40:58, and Clara Hernandez, who raced in at 43:46.
Kaitlin Hicks from John Jay College won the meet overall with a time of 26:19. A total of six CUNYAC schools competed in the meet, and CSI came in third place among them. Their 176 points put them behind John Jay (120) and Baruch (172).
The Dolphins will next take part in their very own Invitational, which will take place at Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island, on Sunday, September 13, beginning at 10am.
