I am pleased to provide you with highlights from my November College Council President’s Report.

President’s Report to the College Council

Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015

Good afternoon.

I had initially planned to talk about highlights from our annual College Convocation last week, but, in the interest of saving time today, I will save that discussion for a future meeting.

I will mention briefly that, as I have previously advised, our current Strategic Plan will be expiring in 2016, and the College Council Institutional Planning Committee (IPC) will once again oversee the process for the development for a new Strategic Plan.

The IPC met on October 16, October 30, and will be meeting again on November 20 to continue discussions concerning how this process can most effectively involve the broad campus community.

I anticipate that shortly we will be able to provide more details about how we plan to move ahead with this important endeavor, one that will provide a coherent, visionary, and achievable direction for this great institution for the next five years.

Please be reminded that this year’s Celestial Ball is being held on December 12at the Richmond County Country Club where Associate Dean Wilma Jones will be among the honorees receiving the President’s Medal. The CSI Foundation, through proceeds from the Ball, provides vital support for student scholarships and operational dollars for the campus.

Most recently, the CSI Foundation allocated $150,000 in operational funding to the campus, with $100,000 of the funding directed to academic departments.

I am pleased to inform you that my senior executive staff has led the way by contributing more than $7,000 in personal funds to support the success of our Celestial Ball for the benefit of our students, faculty, and staff.

For all of us at the College of Staten Island, there is no worthier investment.

Thank you.
