The College of Staten Island softball squad is in San Antonio, Texas today on their spring training trip and will play their third double header in just as many days today against the Kangaroos of Austin College.  The Kangaroos are 5-5 to start the season and haven’t played since Saturday.

Players to Watch (CSI)Christina Tufano went 3-for-5 in the doubleheader against powerhouse Trinity University yesterday and tallied seven putouts from third base.  Jacqueline Cautela pitched a solid game but picked up a loss against the hard hitting Tigers.  Cautela is now 1-1 on the year with a 2.15 ERA and four strikeouts through 13 innings. Cautela will look to get back in the win column today against the Kangaroos who are hitting. 327 as a team.
Players To Watch (AC): Sophia Hernandez is the powerhouse slugger for the Kangaroos and is third on the team with a .435 batting average to go along with 9 RBIs, a team high, as well as a homerun which is also a team high.  Katherine Wright is the ace in the circle and through 19.2 innings has a 4.27 ERA with six strikeouts and three homeruns allowed. 
News & Notes: The Kangaroos are currently on a four game losing streak after dropping four straight to Texas Lutheran all of which were conference games. The Dolphins have a losing skid of their own after opening their spring training trip with a pair of wins over Schreiner University.  Austin’s opponents bat an average of .342 and get on base 39% of the time. CSI is batting just .228 on the year and will need to bring that up if they want to get back into the win column before they head back home.
