To the College Community:
Welcome to the start of the spring semester at the College of Staten Island. I hope that you have enjoyed a happy and restful winter intersession.
This is generally a time of great excitement at the College as we look forward to an early spring. However, the ongoing State and City budget negotiations, and their impact upon the financial conditions of our dedicated faculty and staff, pose significant hardships for many.
As our University, Union, and State and City representatives are working to reach a collective resolution, I realize that there is a tremendous strain being placed upon our campus during this process.
This month, I plan to start personally meeting with various faculty, staff, and student constituent groups to listen to concerns and discuss ways in which we can improve our working and learning environment in the interim.
