As a follow-up to the Sunday, June 12, 2016 statement from President Fritz, I would like to reiterate that CSI is committed to maintaining a safe environment for the variety of groups making up our diverse community. We seek to continue campus discourse concerning the elimination of hatred directed at any specific group.

In support of our community, the College of Staten Island has coordinated the following actions in response to the tragedy in Orlando:

  • Support Group for Students on Wednesday, June 15 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in the Campus Center (Building 1C), Room 227, facilitated by the Counseling Center and the LGBTQ Resource Center.
  • Support Group for RAs and Dolphin Cove Residents on Thursday, June 16 in the Dolphin Cove South Conference Room, facilitated by the Counseling Center.
  • CSI will have a presence at Staten Island PrideFest on Saturday, July 16 at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden.

Online, you may access a list of Safe Zone spaces on campus along with a listing of LGBTQ faculty and staff at CSI who are available for additional support.

The Prayer and Meditation Room, in the Campus Center (Building 1C), Room 109, is open to all members of the CSI community during the summer months, Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00am to 5:30pm.
