The College of Staten Island women’s tennis team got into the in column last week, scoring a pair of convincing wins to run their record even.  After the stellar week, CSI freshman Tristiana Adragna was recognized by the City University of New York Athletic Conference as its Rookie of the Week.

The award is the first for women’s tennis this season and Adragna was certainly deserving.  Playing in the No. 3 position against Sarah Lawrence College, Adragna was a 6-0, 6-0, winner over SLC’s Moni Spancheska.  In Doubles, she was featured in the No. 2 position, pairing with fellow frosh Hannah Bruschi to score an 8-3 winner there.  Less than 24 hours later, Adragna was right back out on the court to open up the CUNYAC season against York College.  In an elevated role, Adragna paired with Dana Friedman at the No. 1 Doubles position and was able to score an 8-0 win over YC’s Kaithlyn Taylor and Dominique Thelwell.  When play switched over to Singles, Adragna moved up a peg in the lineup and was lights-out in a 6-0, 6-0, win over Thelwell.

For the season, Adragna is 2-2 in Singles play and 2-2 in Doubles with two different partners.  Adragna is also a freshman star on the women’s cross-country team, and was first among CSI finishers when the team participated in the Purchase College Invitational on the weekend of September 10.

The Dolphins are back in action on Thursday, when they will continue their CUNYAC slate by hosting Brooklyn College at the CSI Tennis Center at 4pm.
